Day 10 -- Going home

We started our last day with breakfast with the Van Cleemputs, then headed to the nearby train station to catch a train to Koblenz where we transfer to an ICE train to Frankfurt airport. It was a little tense, since it was a tight connection (7 minutes), and our train to Koblenz arrived and left 9 minutes late. However, the ICE train ran a couple minutes late, too, and we were able (with some running with our full backpacks) to run down and up the stairs at the Koblenz station and make the connection with almost a minute to spare.

Our time at the Frankfurt airport and the flight to Dallas were uneventful. But we had another tight connection in Dallas due to our late arrival and an incredibly long line at immigration there. Once on the Dallas-to-SJC flight, we were able to settle in and nap for a couple hours each.

Arriving home, our newly refinished hardwood kitchen and family room floor greeted us, along with the furniture and junk that had been piled in the living room just before our departure. No time to diddle with that (sorry, no pics), since we had to get some sleep in preparation for another trip the next afternoon, this time to L.A. for the weekend to visit Michael in celebration of his 21st birthday. A familiar sight, Randy's Donuts (the building with the big donut on top), could be seen out the window as the plane made its final approach into LAX.
