Day 9 -- Amsterdam to Boppard

Well, time to say goodbye to our little trip! We leave Amsterdam early in the morning (of course, everything is early!!!) and take an ICE train to Koln, where there is just enough time for a quick photo outside the cathedral, since the nice weather has turned bad and we don't want to get soaked. Changing trains in Koblenz, John goes off looking for Kinder Surprise eggs and finds the train station and its stores is under construction for renovation work. Too bad!

We meet up in Boppard with Magda and Bill vanCleemput, and we all hop a train for Bingen where we connect with the Koln Dusseldorfer boat back to Boppard. On the boat, we enjoy Rhine wine and dinner. Our boat, the Goethe, is an old paddleboat and we all admire the engines. Upon our return, we stroll through Boppard and have a traditional late-night snack -- spaghetti eis (sorry, no picture!). Then it's goodnight and a chance to get ready for an early morning trip to the train station and Frankfurt airport -- and home!
