Day Eleven...
From Zermatt to Lausanne -- a change of language but still beautiful Swiss scenery. We leave Zermatt after a little birthday celebration for John, who opens his gifts at breakfast. Our hotel mini-van takes us to the train station, where we retrace our route of two days ago and enjoy yet another round of stunning scenery which reminds us of Yosemite. We change trains in Visp and travel to Lausanne, where John meets up with Prof. Eduardo Sanchez of EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Federale Lausanne, aka the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). John and Mike go on a short tour of their Logic Systems Lab, and then Eduardo takes us all to dinner at a restaurant high in a hill in Grand Vaux, with the most gorgeous view of the Lake Leman (aka Lake Geneva) and the surrounding mountains. Oh, and the food is great, too. Most of us have locally caught fish from the lake, and top it off with creme brulee for dessert. Eduardo gave is some excellent recommendations for what to do tomorrow, so we'll get back to you on that!
