Day 21

Maui, Hawaii

Breakfast on the Trilogy catamaran -- world-famous cinnamon buns. Close-up of world-famous buns. On-board videographer Mike shoots footage for the souvenir video. Relaxing on the foredeck -- a trampoline.
Sailing back, looking up the 40' sail. After lunch -- ice cream! Kate's new hairstyle.

A fabulous day, and a suitable finale to our epic voyage. First, we took the Trilogy catamaran trip from Kaanapali to the Maui marine preserve for snorkeling in two spots.

Trilogy is a wonderful tour company with people who greet you, get to know you, serve you a great breakfast and lunch and in general make you feel terrific. They take you to the best snorkeling spots and point out the fish you're seeing. (Saw a moray eel and some turtles...)

We motored to the marine preserve and it was a wild ride ... then sailed back to the "dock" (actually a sandy beach) on the way back. Happy faces all around. We can't recommend any Maui excursion more highly!

Lahaina is hopping with activity tonight; must be the pre-holiday crowd. We had dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise, a local institution. The wait to get in at 7 p.m. was nothing compared to the line of people outside at 8:30.

We all hate to leave. Somehow on the boat ride the whole wild trip came together, in a way. Must be the sea. Perhaps after all of it, we're all meant to end up in Maui.

A beautiful couple got married here at the Hyatt, right down below our window. Their music was "Unforgettable" by Nat King and Natalie Cole. Makes sense. They still haven't turned off the surf noise outside the hotel. Tomorrow night, that will be some other resident's biggest problem, eh?
